Deakin University, Australia

Ko Tsz-ching|Year 3 Bachelor of Nursing (Full-time) student

Participating in the exchange programme to Deakin University gave me an invaluable opportunity for personal growth and cultural enrichment. At Deakin, I visited their simulation laboratories and learned practical skills such as wound dressing for central catheters and lung auscultation. The hands-on nature of these sessions allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in a controlled environment, boosting my confidence in performing these crucial tasks in future. I also visited the paediatric ward at Monash Hospital, which has put an effort into creating a warm and patient-friendly environment through thoughtful design elements, such as a TV on the ceiling in the imaging room and a large playground area, demonstrating their commitment to holistic care. This reminds me that as a future healthcare professional, I must not only focus on providing medical help, but also take care of the feelings of my patients. The exchange experience in Melbourne has reinforced my passion for nursing and my determination to continuously grow and learn, ultimately providing the highest quality of care to my future patients.
