Fudan University, China

Chan Hiu-ching|Year 3 Bachelor of Nursing (Full-time) student

This exchange programme gave us a rare opportunity to learn various nursing roles and visit different hospital and medical centres in Shanghai. The most unforgettable was our visit to the Clinical Department of Integration of Western and Traditional Medicine in the Obstetrics & Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University (Shanghai Red House Ob & Gyn Hospital). The APN of that department provided a comprehensive overview of the numerous methods, like acupuncture, cupping therapy and Chinese medicine, used to relieve pain or reduce the side effects from treatments or diseases. This exchange programme has formulated a major impression in how I can approach the practise of nursing in my future career life. It has also given me a new perspective of the vital function of nurses in the delivery of healthcare, particularly in environments like the intensive care unit and community centres. I am now even more determined to be a nurse who can improve the lives of my patients.
