Firstly, the visit to Eunpyeong St. Mary Hospital left a lasting impression. The facility was massive and high-tech, showcasing an impressive level of organisation and efficiency. Observing the staff’s professionalism and the integration of advanced medical technologies highlighted South Korea’s commitment to innovative healthcare. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of a well-structured system, inspiring me to consider how such advancements could benefit other regions, including Hong Kong.
Secondly, the lectures on South Korea’s healthcare system were eye-opening. They provided a nuanced understanding of the complexities within the system, particularly the recent protests by doctors. Comparing these issues with those faced in Hong Kong illuminated the delicate balance between policy and the welfare of healthcare professionals. This critical analysis deepened my appreciation for the socio-political factors influencing healthcare delivery.
Lastly, visiting the Seocho-gu Public Centre allowed me to experience high-tech community medical services firsthand. The innovative use of technology in public health initiatives demonstrated the potential for enhancing accessibility and service delivery. This visit inspired me to think about how similar models could be adapted in Hong Kong to improve community health services.
