Pinning Ceremony 2024

The Class of 2024 included graduating students from our first cohort of the Master of Science in Nursing [MSc(Nurs)] programme, as well as the Bachelor of Nursing (Full-time) (BNurs) programme. The graduates happily joined the momentous Pinning Ceremony that took place on May 30, 2024, where the Dean of Medicine of HKUMed, Professor Lau Chak-sing, was the officiating guest. The HKUMed Deanery and leaders from the healthcare sector also took part as pinning guests.

Dean Lau kicked off the event with opening remarks in which he reflected on his own experiences with nurses in his early days as a doctor and welcomed the graduates to the nursing profession. He was followed by Professor Chia-Chin Lin, Director of HKU School of Nursing, who commended our students for embarking on a new phase in their lives and using their expertise and knowledge to make significant contributions to the community. The actual pinning then took place, when each graduating student received a nursing pin from our honourable guests and teachers on stage, symbolising their academic nursing achievements and commitment to the highest professional standards.

Professor Lin then led the graduating students in lighting their candles and reciting the Nightingale Pledge, to infuse them with Florence Nightingale's spirit and example.

To conclude the ceremony, graduating students Claudia Ng from MSc(Nurs) and Tsang Ho-ching and Cheuk Oi-ching from BNurs led their class to deliver the vote of thanks and share words of appreciation with the attendees. Parents, relatives, teachers and friends of the Class of 2024 also joined in the celebration.

The School is proud of its newest batch of graduates and their dedication and commitment to join the healthcare community and make valuable contributions to the healthcare system.
