Summer Programme 2024 – Local and Non-local Students Discover HKU Nursing

More than 60 secondary school students from the United Kingdom, mainland China and Hong Kong attended our three-day Summer Programme 2024 – Discover HKU Nursing, organised in August.

The event was packed with interesting activities, including attending a problem-based learning session and lecture on a nursing-related topic; an outing to the Elderly Resources Centre where students learned about the concept of an “age-friendly home” in the community and gained tips on how to take care of the elderly professionally; and the opportunity to practise some basic nursing skills in clinical laboratories and prepare a presentation of the knowledge gained with their fellow groupmates.

Our student ambassadors were also on hand to showcase our Sassoon Road campus and the HKU main campus, and share their experiences of campus life, overseas exchange and practicums with the participants. The secondary school students also learned more about the nursing programme and career options during an admission talk and alumni sharing.

The programme concluded on a high note, with participants making new friends and having information on hand of a top choice for pursuing education and a career in nursing.
