The Programme
The aim of the Bachelor of Nursing degree programme is to provide a comprehensive and holistic nursing education programme which strives to achieve professional excellence in nursing. The four-year part-time curriculum is broad-based and multi-disciplinary, designed to introduce the bio-psycho-social aspects of health and nursing care in line with the development of a world trend in nursing education. Students are able to obtain knowledge through the study of the different disciplines as well as to develop an enquiring mind, interpersonal skills and an understanding of the socio-cultural context in which nursing is practised in Hong Kong. The curriculum also integrates various nursing and health components such as adult nursing, mental health nursing, obstetric nursing, paediatric nursing, community health nursing and gerontological nursing as well as Chinese Medicine and other alternative therapies in maintenance of health and management of illnesses. Graduates are developed as generic nurses who will be able to work as competent practitioners in various health care settings.
