It gives me very much pleasure to welcome you to this Website. I hope you will enjoy navigating yourself around it as much as I did. To my mind it provides a very user friendly introduction to our School which was established in 1995 with 42 students and has evolved to a full-fledged nursing school that plays a significant role in nursing education, research, and knowledge exchange.

Our School has a strong mission to educate nursing leaders for the community, and it is our goal to provide a diversified and holistic nursing education that will prepare our graduates to become leaders of the nursing profession. One of the strengths of the School is its innovative, interdisciplinary and internationalized nursing curricula responding to the health needs of the population locally and globally. We also have close links with a range of health care settings in Hong Kong which facilitate the provision of cutting-edge learning environments for our students. The School has developed a strong network with first class university schools of nursing internationally which enables student and academic exchanges as well as research collaboration. The University Grants Committee (UGC) Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2014 and 2020 affirmed the School’s outstanding research performance by judging its research achievements to be the top among other relevant tertiary institutions.

If you are interested in becoming a nurse, you will find a wealth of information about our curriculum and its strengths, about our staff members who will provide guidance and support to you throughout your journey of learning and about the wider university and all it offers you. The HKU experience for undergraduate students is one of excitement as new understandings develop, increasing confidence as new skills are mastered, and deep satisfaction as knowledge is integrated into competent practice in the provision of nursing care.

If you are already a registered or enrolled nurse, have a look at our programmes that enable you to upgrade your qualifications to degree level. I think you will find these are very appropriate to your needs. If you already hold a nursing degree and are interested in taking your education further, I invite you to look at our stimulating masters and doctoral programmes which will prepare you for advanced practice and leadership roles in healthcare. Perhaps you are interested in developing the skills to investigate aspects of your practice. If so, have a look at our MPhil and PhD programmes which will strengthen your research skills and deepen your knowledge about your subject of interest.

You may be a nursing scholar from overseas interested in pursuing an international research collaboration. We would love you to have a look at our research activities and make contact with us if you find an area that matches your research endeavours.

If you are looking for our knowledge exchange activities, you will find that we have been channeling our expertise into supporting health improvement initiatives that will benefit the wider community.

Whatever your interest in exploring our Website, I welcome you to travelling around it. Enjoy the journey!!
