University of Exeter, UK

My University of Exeter exchange has been unforgettable. It has shaped my future nursing practice, especially the importance of communication, empathy, and adaptability in diverse settings.
The first week was full of anticipation and adjustment, including welcome activities, a campus tour and a laughter-filled pizza and quiz night for exchange students fostered a strong sense of connection.
Week two marked the beginning of my academic journey. I enrolled in Forensic Science and Communication. The seminar-based classes were refreshingly different from the didactic style I was used to and I did extra work reviewing notes and gaining an appreciation for forensic investigative technique — skills I’ll carry into nursing to manage diverse patient needs.
A highlight was our communication course exhibition, “Behind The Likes”, on the impact of social media on adolescent girls’ well-being. Creating the interactive booth and podcasting with Amelia, a UK KOL, sharpened my teamwork and communication skills, which is important in nursing. These activities enhanced my empathy and inspired me to advocate for mental wellness. From social events to academic projects, I’ve learned that education extends beyond the classroom through connection, discovery, and growth.Back
