The programme
This is a two-year part-time programme (in the generic stream or public health stream) consisting of six semesters. The programme consists of ten 6 credit courses and runs over 2 years. It is a conversion programme for registered nurses graduating from hospital-based higher diploma programmes who are currently working in local hospitals, the Department of Health, private clinics, and/or Non-governmental organizations.

Who can apply?
To be eligible for admission to this programme, an applicant

(a) shall comply with the University General Regulations

(b) shall be registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong or hold recognized equivalent qualifications; and
(c) may be required to take a qualifying test of language ability and nursing knowledge.

The Curriculum
This programme consists of eight core courses, which must be completed by all students from both the generic and public health streams. These are core courses that a first-degree baccalaureate nursing student must complete. Two additional elective courses are provided for generic and public health stream students.

The Degree
This is an honours degree programme. Students who successfully complete the programme and pass all courses in Year I and Year II will be awarded a Bachelor of Nursing in one of the following five divisions: First Class Honours, Second Class Honours Division One, Second Class Honours Division Two, Third Class Honours and Pass.? The grade point average obtained by candidates at the end of the programme determines the Honours Award.

Assessment
The assessment of various courses will be based on course work assignments, seminar presentations, student projects and examinations. Examinations will normally be held at the end of each semester.

Teaching and Learning
Teaching and learning strategies will normally consist of lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratory sessions, presentations, case studies, audio-visual programmes and self-directed learning.
