Teaching and LearningEmbracing Technology and Innovation to Elevate Nursing Education The School of Nursing at The University of Hong Kong plays a vital role in nursing education, not only in preparing individuals for careers as leaders in healthcare but also in enhancing the overall wellbeing of communities. Our graduates have earned significant prestige from employers. Over the past 30 years, the School has continuously developed its curriculum, effectively nurturing students into competent nurses. Among our exciting developments is the successful launch of an Advanced Leadership Track of the Bachelor of Nursing programme. This track was the first and only in Hong Kong to offer two different clinical articulation pathways to the HKU Master of Nursing or HKU Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). In addition, we introduced two new pre-registration programmes: the Master of Science in Nursing, which had its inaugural cohort of graduates complete their studies in 2024, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programme, launching in 2025. We also revamped the undergraduate programme curriculum, allowing students to take a semester gap to explore the world through the Life Enrichment Learning Course. We have received very positive feedback from students about this initiative. The School is always at the forefront of developing effective teaching strategies in nursing education. In addition to interprofessional education, our faculty members are continuously enhancing their skills in high-fidelity simulation physiology and teaching pedagogies, using innovative technologies such as virtual reality and AI to enhance students%u2019 learning. Our Simulation Training Centre, accredited since 2022, is the first in Hong Kong to receive such recognition. It provides realistic multi-patient simulation scenarios, preparing students for the real-life clinical challenges they will face. We ensure our simulation centre is a leader in simulationbased education. To date, four of our teachers are accredited simulation educators. These initiatives reflect our dedication to nurturing nursing leaders who are skilled in using simulation technology to enhance patient care and safety. Our teaching philosophy aligns with HKU%u2019s vision of 3I+I (Innovation, Impact, Internationalisation, and Interdisciplinarity), aiming to innovate and lead to impactful outcomes. Our Faculty members have been instrumental in this transformative journey, earning accolades such as the HKU Teaching Innovation Award (Teams), Early Career Award and the Outstanding Teaching Award for their pioneering work, and as a finalist for the UGC Teaching Award 2024 (General Faculty Members). The School's relentless pursuit of innovation, integrating simulation-based learning within the nursing curriculum, underscores our unwavering commitment to educational excellence. As we look to the future, the School is dedicated to enhancing teaching and learning through innovation and responsiveness to the needs of students and society, ultimately supporting global health.16
