Cutting-edge technology and pedagogy ensure our
nursing students see the world from well-rounded perspectives
To enhance the learning experience of the School of Nursing’s students, we have adopted a variety of teaching
strategies for different programmes across the curriculum.
Our School has established an advanced simulation training centre and nursing clinical skills laboratories in which
there are high fidelity patient simulations, robots and virtual reality (VR) cave automatic virtual environments. Based
on the needs of students and desired learning outcomes, the School of Nursing’s lecturers incorporate these
teaching innovations into courses. For example, our mental health nursing course uses VR to bolster students’
empathic understanding of patients living with mental illnesses. Interprofessional education is also embedded in
our programmes to highlight the importance of teamwork and communication in patient care.
Throughout the School’s curriculum, our nursing students have numerous opportunities to learn and work with
students from different healthcare disciplines through a variety of learning activities such as interprofessional
problem-based and team-based activities, simulation, as well as health research projects.
The high quality of our teaching staff is reflected in their many achievements, which include the Higher Education
Academy (HEA) Fellow (UK), ASPiH Accreditation, Faculty Teaching Medal, Early Career Teaching Award,
Outstanding Teaching Award and Teaching Innovation Award.
We believe our education programmes, delivered with effective, evidence-based and state-of-the-art pedagogies
by experienced teaching staff, equip our students with the necessary attributes to meet healthcare needs both
locally and globally.
