World-leading research informs best practice
The School of Nursing strives to achieve and sustain world-class research in health. Our scientific investigations
focus on developing effective novel interventions for improving health and generating robust and cutting-edge
evidence for recommending health policies and practices. Over the past five years, the number of extramural
grants received has increased by almost half, with the total amount increased by 70%. The School also invests in
our Research Postgraduate students as the next generation of researchers. They participate in large-scale studies
and have demonstrated achievements in many international presentations and conferences.
Our four research areas fall under two broad research themes: Ageing and Chronic Diseases, and Primary Care
and Behavioural Health. They have been chosen and established to maintain coherence and inter-relatedness so
we can expand the impact and significance of our research.
