- Date
- 12 May 2025
Every year on May 12th, we celebrate International Nurses Day to honour the contributions of nurses worldwide and commemorate the birth of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing.
This year marks the third consecutive year of collaboration between Hong Kong West Cluster, Hospital Authority (HA), and HKU School of Nursing in celebrating this special occasion. We are honoured to have Dr Theresa Li Tak-lai, Cluster Chief Executive of Hong Kong West Cluster, HA, Dr Danny Tong Wah-kun, Chief Manager (Nursing) / Chief Nurse Executive of HA, Professor Sylvia Fung Yuk-kuen, President of The Hong Kong Academy of Nursing & Midwifery, Professor Sophia Chan Siu-chee, Director of the HKU Primary Health Care Academy, Ms Jane Chan Lai-hung, Cluster General Manager (Nursing), Hong Kong West Cluster, HA and Professor Chia-Chin Lin, Director of HKU School of Nursing, to officiate the Light-up Ceremony and celebrate this meaningful day!
Dr Tong and Professor Fung’s lectures on this year’s theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies” were insightful and provided valuable guidance and inspiration for the nursing community.
We extend our gratitude to nurses around the world for their dedication, compassion, and efforts in providing exceptional care and making a profound difference in countless lives.
