We are thrilled to welcome more than 60 secondary school students from the United Kingdom, mainland China and Hong Kong to our three-day Summer Programme 2024 – Discover HKU Nursing, organised by HKU School of Nursing on August 5-7.  Participants followed an exciting rundown packed with interesting activities.  They attended a problem-based learning session and lecture on a nursing-related topic.  An outing was arranged at the Elderly Resources Centre where students learned about the concept of an 'age-friendly home' in the community and gained tips on how to take care of the elderly professionally.  They also had the opportunity to practise some basic nursing skills in clinical laboratories and to prepare a presentation of the knowledge gained with their fellow groupmates. 

Moreover, our student ambassadors not only showcased our Sassoon Road campus and the HKU main campus, but also shared their campus life, overseas exchange and practicum experiences with the participants.  These secondary school students were keen to gain valuable information about the nursing programme and career during an admission talk and alumni sharing.

The three-day programme provided a unique opportunity for participants to experience what the HKU School of Nursing can offer. It concluded on a high note, with participants making new friends and being convinced of their choice of pursuing a nursing profession.
