The U21 Health Sciences Nursing and Midwifery Group Research Postgraduate Symposium 2025 was successfully held at The University of Hong Kong on October 31, 2025. The symposium brought together 13 presenters from 5 esteemed universities, including Fudan University, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, The University of Hong Kong, University of Birmingham, and University of Glasgow. This hybrid event, hosted by HKU School of Nursing and streamed online to reach a wider audience, provided an engaging platform for emerging scholars to showcase their innovative research and encouraged dynamic exchanges of ideas and collaboration. Special thanks to Professor Marcela Gonzalez Aguero, Chair of the U21 Health Sciences Nursing and Midwifery Group and Professor Chia-Chin Lin, Director of School of Nursing at The University of Hong Kong for their valuable support. Outstanding presentations were recognised by a distinguished panel of adjudicators: Professor Yan Hu from Fudan University, Professor Ping Guo from University of Birmingham, and Professor Daniel Fong from The University of Hong Kong.
The symposium served not only as a platform for exchanging knowledge but also as a celebration of academic excellence. Each postgraduate presented their focused and impactful three-minute presentation, using a single static PowerPoint slide to effectively convey the core of their research. To recognition of their exceptional contributions, four Outstanding Presentation Awards were presented to:
- Ms Bernice Chan from The University of Hong Kong
- Ms Krista Chung from the University of Hong Kong
- Ms Xiaofeng He from Fudan University
- Ms Lorna Hollowood from University of Birmingham
Each presentation emphasised the symposium’s dedication to fostering intellectual development, encouraging collaboration and promoting the cultivation of future leaders in Nursing and Midwifery across borders. This significant event laid a strong foundation for continued success and evolution, leaving participants inspired and motivated to make meaningful advances in in their respective fields.
