To promote a smoke-free culture to Hong Kong youth, HKU School of Nursing supported the “Smoke-free Elite Teens Programme” organised by Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH). The programme held for two days and about 100 S3 and S4 secondary school students participated each day on August 22 and 23, 2022. Dr Kelvin Wang, Associate Professor, and Dr Derek Cheung, Assistant Professor, of HKU School of Nursing shared their experience in tobacco control education and research.  And one HKU Youth Quitline counsellor talked about smoking cessation counselling techniques.

Students toured the clinical laboratories for teachers’ demonstrations and explanations of different use of high-fidelity simulators and mannequins in nursing teaching and learning, for instance: vital signs measurement, auscultate lung and heart sounds, wound dressing, IV injection and obstetric abdominal palpation, etc.
