Seminar on “Improving Health Equity among Marginalized Youth: Reducing Stigma and Fostering Resilience” by Professor Elizabeth Saewyc Past Event

Event details

Worldwide, certain population subgroups experience stigma and discrimination, violence and trauma, resulting significant health inequities compared to less marginalized groups.

Professor Elizabeth Saewyc, Professor and Director of School of Nursing, and Executive Director of Stigma and Resilience Among Vulnerable Youth Centre (SARAVYC) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada delivered a seminar on studies of these adolescent populations, and key research findings that have been used to influence nursing practice, health and school policy, and even laws, to improve health outcomes and narrow gaps in health equity for marginalized young people that have been done by SARAVYC in the past 12 years.

Participants were inspired by the expertise of Professor Saewyc and were actively exchanging ideas and exploring collaboration opportunities with her.
