We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the 14th Hong Kong International Nursing Forum cum 2024 Sino US Nursing Forum cum 2nd Greater Bay Area Nursing Conference, jointly organised by the School of Nursing of The University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong – Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH).

The event theme was “Cross-Boundary Collaboration for Future Nursing”, where speakers and scholars offered their perspectives on how nursing professionals can collaborate across geographical, cultural, and interdisciplinary boundaries. Through promoting cooperation and collaboration among nursing professionals and institutions globally, the forum discussions delved into the challenges and opportunities that the nursing field encounters in an interconnected and globalised world.

This forum, co-organised with 47 prestigious universities and organisations worldwide, and attracted over 400 delegates from across the globe to join us in person.  The forum commenced with the welcome address by Professor Kenneth Cheung, Hospital Chief Executive, The University of Hong Kong – Shenzhen Hospital and the Vote of Thanks by Professor Chia-Chin Lin, Director of HKU School of Nursing. Afterwards, a Kick-off of the 30th Anniversary of the HKU School of Nursing was held where former School Heads, Professor Sophia Chan and Professor Agnes Tiwari, joined Professor Chia-Chin Lin, our serving School Director, unveiled the 30th Anniversary logo at a lighting ceremony, marking the beginning of a series of celebratory programmes to commemorate this significant milestone for the School.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed officiating keynote speaker and keynote speakers, including Mr James Chau, Professor Angela Frederick Amar from New York University, Professor Christine E Kasper from the University of Pittsburgh, Professor Nancy R Reynolds from Johns Hopkins University, Professor Zheng Li from Peking Union Medical College, Professor Yan Hu from Fudan University, Professor Bei Wu from New York University, and Professor June Zhang from Sun Yat-sen University, for sharing their valuable insights and expertise. The invited speakers and moderators contributed their knowledge and inspiration during the conference, discussing various topics related to innovation in healthcare, research, and unlocking innovation through collaboration and beyond. Oral and poster presenters also had the opportunity to showcase their research findings.  Delegates found the conference to be enriching and engaging, providing a valuable platform for learning and networking.

The forum ended with a closing ceremony led by the forum co-chairs, Professor Patsy Chau and Professor Edmond Choi.  Best poster awards were also recognised and presented during the award ceremony. This was followed by two post-forum events, such as the U21 Health Sciences Group Nursing and Midwifery Discipline Group Research Postgraduate Symposium and Simulation Seminar - Best Practices and Innovations in Simulation-Based Education. Once again, we extend our gratitude to all participants for contributing to the success of this event.
