Dr Shengzhi Zhao is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, The University of Hong Kong (HKU). She received her bachelor’s degree and passed Registered Nurse exam (2014) in Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) and earned her Master of Public Health (2015) and PhD (2022) degrees from HKU.
Dr Zhao’s research focuses on developing and evaluating mobile-based behaviour change interventions, especially with the use of randomized controlled trials or more sophisticated trial designs (e.g., adaptive intervention strategies). She is interested in smoking cessation and the reduction of secondhand smoke exposure and other addictive behaviour. Her research also extended to mental health and family well-being improvement.
Currently, she is leading two competitive research grants for evaluating interactive mobile health interventions for reducing secondhand smoke for sick children and promote mental health in pregnant women. Dr Zhao has published 25 articles in international, peer-reviewed journals as a lead author.
